Many Minnesota families are still pinching pennies in today’s economy. But there are some awesome programs available to help people in need, such as Heat Up Minnesota, government tax credits, and various Home Energy Loan Programs, like the one offered by the Center for Energy and Environment.
The Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) and the Minnesota Division of Energy 
Resources have announcd a low interest-financing program. The CEE Home Energy Loan Program allows Minnesota homeowners to affordably upgrade their home’s heating and cooling systems. The program is being funded by Great River Energy and other Minnesota Utility companies.
If you need to upgrade your furnace, heat pump, central air conditioning, or make other energy improvements, this low interest loan may be a great opportunity for your family to do it affordably. There is a wide range of high-tech equipment available today that will be a great upgrade to your home’s energy efficiency such as Smart Thermostats, Infinity furnaces, and more. Also, you should be aware, that if you have a non-condensing furnace, you may have expensive issues if you replace your furnaces after May 1, 2013 (Read how High Efficiency Furnaces will be required in Minnesota and what you should do about it).

Announcement: We have recently heard from ACCA that the Fiscal Cliff legislation passed earlier this month included a tax credit for the installation of high efficiency residential air conditioning and heating equipment.The reinstatement of what was known as the 25C tax credit provides for up to $500 in homeowner tax credit. As a bonus, the provision was made retroactive to include all qualifying installations starting January 1, 2012 as well as moving forward into 2013.
