NLS High School’s Ag Structures class received a much-needed donation from Chappell Central Inc, a heating contractor based out of Willmar. On Wednesday morning, Chappell staff provided the school with a $5,000 donation of two furnaces which will allow students to work throughout the winter on their annual house-building project. The course, taught by instructor Jeff Gabrielson, is offered to seniors – many of whom go on to pursue careers in hands-on trades, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning. In addition to their donation, Chappell technicians spoke to the students for over an hour, answering questions about how to begin a career in similar trades after graduation. According to April Dorry, of Chappell, several students expressed interest in job shadowing the company this spring.
