For many years, Chappell Central Inc. has donated a percent of their revenue to local organizations to give back to their community. But this is the first year that they donated $50 “per product sold” to determine a portion of their total annual donations. Craig Meyer, President of Chappell Central Inc., shared how the idea got started. He explained, “At our 2014 Christmas Party, as a company, we decided to offer $50 per residential furnace installed in 2015, to a veterans group. A year later, at the 2015 Christmas Party, we had announced that the total dollar amount we raised was $11,500.” Meyer then asked employees to suggest veteran-focused organizations to donate the money to. The employees rallied together and came up with some notable ideas. He added, “Our staff had some great suggestions for local veteran organizations. We did some more investigation, and came up with three organizations that Chappell Central chose to give to for 2015.”
The veteran organizations that Chappell Central Inc. chose to give to are the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall, Eagles Healing Nest, and Homefront Connections. Meyer and the staff at Chappell Central are proud to see how they are impacting others, beyond just keeping their homes warm by installing and repairing furnaces. Meyer pointed out, “This format made the whole process more interactive for all of us. Normally I handle all of the donations and most employees don’t see what we’re donating to. This way employees see at least a portion of what we donate to, and can be a part of it.”
