Chappell Central Adds Turning Lathe in Willmar Facility
Chappell Central Inc. of Willmar, Minnesota recently installed a new turning lathe at it’s newly expanded manufacturing facility. The turning lathe will enable Chappell Central Inc. to keep more work in-house at their Willmar facility, rather than outsourcing. The turning lathe is capable of turning up to 16” diameter. It is also equipped with live tooling which can help reduce added operations being done on other machines. With the machine in-house, Chappell Central Inc. is able to have more control of scheduling and quality of parts.
Growing Manufacturing Capabilities
Matt Kelly, the Manufacturing Plant Manager at Chappell Central Inc., has seen their manufacturing facilities and capabilities grow immensely over the years. Just last year, they added 10,000 square feet onto the manufacturing facility and increased the ceiling height. This doubled the room for welding and allowed them to add an overhead crane and automated vertical band saw.
The new equipment and growing facility equates to a better end product for the customer. As far as the recent addition of the turning lathe, Kelly points out, “It will enable use to control the quality more efficiently so that the customers can receive the right parts in a timely manner. We want to exceed our customers expectations.”
