Chappell Central has worked with a great team of architects, engineers, and contractors to become proficient in commercial HVAC installation in various settings such as waste water treatment plants, schools, hospitals, and most recently government buildings. Here are some of the most recent projects in county buildings across the state of Minnesota.

Mille Lacs County Historic Courthouse

Chappell Central returned to the land of the Walleye to do the HVAC remodel project for this unique historical building. Two years ago Chappell Central installed the HVAC system in the new addition to the Mille Lacs County Historic Courthouse in preparation of vacating this existing building for the remodel. Contegrity Group was the Construction Manager charged with keeping all contactors working together to meet the sometimes-challenging requirements of working on a historic building.

Houston County Justice Center

After a four-year hiatus since the Rice Hospital Project (the largest HVAC project for Chappell Central to date) we again teamed up with Knutson Construction for the Houston County Justice Center. The HVAC portion of this project consisted of four rooftop units, three air handlers, ductwork and a VAV control system.

Jackson County Government Center

Although not as challenging as working on a historical site, Chappell Central was again privileged to work with Contegrity Group to complete this project. Chappell Central installed the Rooftop HVAC Unit, ductwork, and VAV system for this new facility.

It was a great pleasure to work with these facilities and put our commercial HVAC expertise in motion. Since Chappell Central is often known as being “Your Air Quality and Home Comfort Experts” it is nice contribute to the comfort and air quality in workplaces and government buildings as well.

With a 36 horsepower gasoline engine and 250 feet of 8 inch round vacuum hoses, this is not your typical portable air duct cleaner.

This HVAC equipment is the latest and greatest in air duct cleaning and unlike anything else offered in the West Central Minnesota area.

What makes air duct cleaning with Chappell Central better:

High velocity vacuum pulls larger volume of air and dust

Brushes “scrub” out from the top while vacuuming

Includes testing for dust counts and guaranteed results

Works on both smaller residential jobs or larger duct work on commercial jobs

The days of the standing pilot furnace and simple duct systems for homes are long gone. Today some of Chappell Central’s residential installations rival some of the more complex commercial installation projects. Residential projects may be smaller in scale, but can be just as high-tech.

Recently we were privileged to install the HVAC system for Jeff and Sonja Niedenthal’s new home. Working for John Layman of Layman Construction, Chappell Central installed a geothermal system using Water Furnace Geothermal Equipment with a Carrier High Efficiency Gas Backup and a Carrier Air-to-Air Exchanger. The system also has sub-slab zoned radiant heat. Chappell Central contracted with Midwest Underground to install six directionally bored horizontal loops. The Chappell Central employees keep up with new technologies and installation procedures of these complex systems by attending HVAC training on a regular basis. Residential no longer means low tech and this latest project is another example of that.

After an unseasonably warm Minnesota winter, our service department is ramping up for spring/summer HVAC Service Agreements. Since the maintenance agreements have proven to be a win-win for both Chappell Central and our customers, we are making an extra effort in 2012 to show our customers the added benefits of committing to the preventative maintenance agreement in all seasons.

How do I Benefit from an HVAC Service Agreement?

A Service Agreement (aka Maintenance Contract, or Preventative Maintenance Agreement) is a proactive approach to HVAC service offered by Chappell Central Inc. With equipment that is more sophisticated and the requirement of extended warranties having annual maintenance, the service maintenance plan provides peace of mind and outstanding reliability for your HVAC equipment.

Service Agreement Benefits include:

Better and more reliable HVAC equipment operation

Fewer “emergency” calls which can be expensive

Added comfort and peace of mind

“Preferred Customer” status and other benefits

Why Invest in an HVAC Service Agreement in the Spring?

Now, with summer looming, it is a great time to invest in a Service Agreement, because it covers more than your heating – it covers your air conditioning system as well. For many families, a reliable central air conditioning unit is nearly as important as the furnace. The main benefits that apply year long are maintaining consistent heating and cooling comfort, and reducing expensive emergency repairs that could have been avoided.

In a normal year we’re waiting for the weather to warm up enough to check out cooling systems, which generally occurs at the same time as the new installation season. Normally this creates a conflict between getting the new equipment installed and completing our maintenance agreements. Not this year – we should be in good shape with our maintenance agreements before the summer push.

Call Ron or Brenda today at 320-235-2151 or contact Chappell Central online to learn of the benefits of “preferred customer” status that comes with a maintenance agreement.

In celebration of Earth Day, we have put together a list of ten common sense ways to be kind to Mother Earth by conserving energy. These tips will not only help the environment, but also save you money!

When you are not using electronics, turn them off.

Use a programmable HVAC thermostat to set your home to be heated or cooled with your schedule of when you are home.

When you can, use the natural heat from the sun, instead of artificial heat. Open or close your curtains as needed to use or block the sun as needed.

Buy Energy Star appliances that are energy efficient. Click here to learn how to read that Energy Guide Label.

Change filters as suggested for furnaces, air conditioners, humidifiers, etc. so that the equipment runs efficiently.

Open your windows to enjoy the nice breeze, or use a ceiling fan. Sometimes this can be more enjoyable than turning on the A/C.

Make sure your equipment is running efficiently. Get your heating and cooling equipment tuned-up and cleaned for preventative maintenance.

Inspect your air ducts and get them cleaned if necessary.

Insulate your windows and doors with weather stripping or caulking to prevent heating or cooling loss.

Go outside, take off your shoes, and take a deep breath! Enjoy the beautiful Minnesota weather!

What else would you add to this list of ways to conserve energy and be kind to Mother Earth? How are you celebrating Earth Day?

With our unseasonably warm winter, and an early spring, many Minnesotans have had spring fever for a while now. Finally, it is officially Spring! It is time to think about Spring cleaning, and getting our homes ready for open windows, warmer weather, and outside air!

Here are a few spring cleaning tips:

1) Wipe down the blades on your ceiling fans, and then switch the direction of the fans for the change of seasons. Ceiling fans should go in the counter-clockwise direction for the cooling season.

2) Wash your curtains, blinds and windows to get rid of dust and dirt! Make your windows shine and the curtains fresh. If needed, vacuum or dry-clean your drapes accordingly.

3) If you were using a humidifier for the dry winter months, it is time to turn if off and/or put it away. Clean and store the humidifier as necessary.

4) Clean your carpets and area rugs, including under the couch, recliner, or other hard to reach areas. Time to get those dust bunnies!

5) Change the filter on your air conditioner before the cooling season begins. If your air conditioner could use a tune-up, contact your HVAC professional to make sure it is running at maximum efficiency.

6) Consider getting your air ducts cleaned if you have had remodeling projects, excessive dust, pet dander, etc.

Also, be sure to re-adjust your automatic thermostat for spring temperatures so that you are not unnecessarily heating your home when the Minnesota spring season shines.

What else have you done to clean or maintain your home for the new Minnesota season?

Our Residential Sales and Service Staff at Chappell Central is continually learning about the latest in HVAC equipment and service, and this winter has been no exception.

Paul Krueger, Special Projects, and Randy Sather, Residential Sales, recently completed a factory tour of the Carrier Manufacturing Plants in Memphis, Tennessee and Indianapolis, Indiana. Paul said, “It was great to get a look at Carrier’s newest line of furnaces and air conditioners.” The Carrier Factory in Memphis is where they make all of Residential Air Conditioners and Heat Pump units. At their Indianapolis, Indiana, plant, Paul and Randy got a tour of their Engineering Department where they design all of the Carrier Furnaces. They even got a chance to share their experience with the engineers at Carrier. Randy commented, “We sat in a meeting with the Carrier engineers and were able to voice our concerns and ideas for the future needs of our customers.”

In addition to the Carrier factory tours and meetings, the Chappell Central staff has also taken extra efforts to learn other specific equipment. Paul Krueger completed training for the Carrier Infinity Greenspeed Heat Pump this February. Paul and some of our service techs, Dave Swanson and Mike Newberg, have also completed a Service and Installation Technician Training for Water Furnace Geothermal products.

Our staff goes the extra mile to provide our customers with the knowledgable heating and cooling equipment advice and HVAC service that they deserve. Do you have a question about Carrier heating and cooling products, Water Furnace Geothermal products, or any HVAC equipment? Please contact us, we are here to help.
